Education Fund Boosted

Akzo Nobel’s Education Fund, which was set up to encourage the education of children in developing countries, has been boosted to the tune of EUR 5,000.

The money was donated by car repair company ASD, from Doetinchem, the Netherlands, who made the highest bid for a specially painted car body which was auctioned off at a recent trade fair in Germany.

Two artists painted the bodywork of an old Simca 1500 from 1954 during the event, using Sikkens paint to create the unusual exhibit.

Akzo Nobel’s Advertising, Sponsoring and Donations manager, Ans Pot, who is also a member of the Education Fund’s board, was on hand to accept the cheque from ASD’s Bert Deynen.

The Education Fund is currently involved in more than 20 projects around the developing world designed to support deprived young children in their schooling.

The latest three projects to receive funding are located in Lombok, Indonesia; Jiaxian County, China and Ha Nam, Vietnam.
