Akzo Nobel’s Car Refinishes business has been selected as an approved partner for the supply of paint and bodyshop services to MG Rover Approved Bodyshops. The company was already a supplier to the Longbridge Rover factory’s plastics division in the UK.
The agreement, effective from January 1, 2004, means that Sikkens® products will now be available to all MG Rover Approved Bodyshops worldwide.
In addition to the use of Sikkens market-leading paints, MG Rover Approved Bodyshops will be able to benefit from the full range of Sikkens services. Designed to help bodyshops improve profitability, these services include technical support, training and consultancy and work provision.
“We are looking forward to working with the technical and sales teams from Sikkens to further strengthen our repairer network,” said Don Lindsay, Manager of Service Development at MG Rover.
“We believe paint manufacturers have a significant part to play in the development of MG Rover’s global Approved Bodyshop network and Akzo Nobel will be a significant additional partner for us.”
Added Philip James, Regional Manager West for Akzo Nobel Car Refinishes Europe West: “We are delighted that MG Rover emphasizes the value Sikkens can bring through our extensive service programs and innovative products.”
Paul Williams, joint CEO of Rover dealer group Bristol Street Motor Holdings in the UK, said: “Akzo Nobel is a long standing business partner of Bristol Street Motors and has supported the group over many years, therefore I am delighted that MG Rover has awarded a global paint approval to the Sikkens brand.”
