More Safety Recognition For Chemicals Group

Akzo Nobel Chemicals in the United States has won another award for its safe handling of hazardous materials.

Having recently received a safe transportation honor from the Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Railway Company, Akzo Nobel Chemicals Inc has now been recognized by another transport organization, Norfolk Southern.

One of America’s premier transportation companies (its railway subsidiary operates 21,500 route miles in 22 states) Norfolk Southern recently presented 37 customers with its Thoroughbred Chemical Safety Award.

The honor was given to customers who each shipped more than 1,000 carloads of hazardous chemicals without incident on the company’s rail network during 2002.

Combined, the recipients safely moved more than 165,000 carloads of hazardous chemicals without a single release of product.

It’s the third year in succession that Akzo Nobel has received the award.
