Unique Supply Agreement Signed

Akzo Nobel's Car Refinishes business has clinched a landmark paint supply deal with GM/Opel in Central Europe and the Balkans.

Akzo Nobel Car Refinishes has become the first paint supplier to receive approval from Opel Southeast Europe kft.

Under the agreement, Akzo Nobel’s car refinishes products are to be recommended to Opel authorized bodyshops in eight Central European and Balkans countries: Bosnia Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Hungary, Macedonia, Romania, Slovenia and Yugoslavia.

The deal means that Akzo Nobel’s Car Refinishes business has become the only approved paint supplier for the entire region and will allow the company to capture a large share of the rapidly growing market.

"Previously, several paint manufacturers, including Akzo Nobel, had supplier agreements with Opel Southeast Europe, but these related to Hungary only," explained Peter Varadi, Automotive Aftermarket and Commercial Vehicle Manager Central Europe and Balkans.

"We made an offer to support the growing Opel network across the whole Central Europe and Balkans region and Opel liked what we delivered."

A support package has also been put together which includes technical training, the provision of color formulations and technical information bulletins, color and IT helpdesks and on-going on-site technical back-up.
