The Anzihe WWF(World Wildlife Fund) Education Center, which was renovated and repainted by AkzoNobel Dulux Pro exterior paints, recently won one of the two prizes of the 9th Far Eastern Architecture Award, a prestigious architecture prize established in Taiwan, and the “most liked project by audience on site” award.
Located deep in the forest of Anzihe Natural Reserve in Sichuan Province, China, the workstation serves as a promotion and education center for the natural reserve. After 7 years of services, the center was renovated and repainted earlier this year. Themed as the “Pixel House”, the new look of WWF Education Center reflected different green colors chose from the forest to make it well “blend into” the surroundings.
The color expertise and the outstanding performance from Dulux Pro not only brought the creative design idea into life, but also help the center to face the challenge of the extreme weather in the forest. The WWF Education Center was designed by the team led by Prof. ZHU Jingxiang from the department of architecture of the Chinese University of Hong Kong in the year of 2011.
“AkzoNobel’s energetic support in providing us with the best coating products and groundbreaking architectural innovations has not only brought this project to a level of perfection, but it enabled our expertise and vision to reach even more places in the great endeavor to build a better environment and more sustainable future,” said Prof. ZHU.
A high-level Chinese graffiti artist, who goes by the name of “Smooth”, participated in the creation of the façade’s design and imparted the following words: “First and foremost, I would like to thank AkzoNobel for the amazing coating products it provided that did so much in perfecting this design and that allowed me to use precisely the colors that I wanted. Pixels are the fundamental elements for recognizing patterns, and using them represents a return to simplicity and harmony with nature.”
Thanks to its color expertise and innovative coating solutions, AkzoNobel is making people’s lives more liveable and sustainable and breathing new life into the building of local communities, even in the deepest area of a forest.
