The famous Dulux dog was introduced in 1961, and remains one of the UK’s most iconic brand mascots.
In the UK we manufacture around 50 million litres of Dulux paint every year and with the launch of our newest manufacturing site in Ashington in September 2017, the world’s most advanced paint factory, we will double the UK capacity for decorative paint production.
As well as paint manufacture, we are the third largest paint retailer in the UK, thanks to our network of 191 Dulux Decorator Centres.
At our global Research and Development centres in Slough and Felling, we invest 40m annually in research and people to keep us at the cutting edge of paint and coatings technology.
Slough is AkzoNobel UK’s HQ and home to the Global Decorative Paints R&D centre. It is also the home of the Dulux Academy, where more than a thousand painter-decorators are trained every year in bespoke facilities, helping to upskill the industry and create the next generation of professional tradespeople.
Felling is home to our Global Protective Coatings R&D centre. Paint and coatings for the shipping industry has been manufactured in Felling for over 100 years and is the birthplace of International. One of International’s most famous innovations is the Intersleek fouling control coating, which revolutionised the marine industry by delivering fuel and CO2 savings.
We are investing more than €12m in a new, state-of-the-art R&D campus in Felling, which will give our scientists world-class facilities and allow us to keep on unlocking coatings innovations and solutions in the energy, oil and gas, infrastructure and mining industries.
AkzoNobel’s coatings help protect some of the UK’s most iconic landmarks, including Tower Bridge, the Shard and even the roof over Centre Court at Wimbledon.
