About us

An iron compound developed by AkzoNobel is continuing to gain widespread recognition for its effectiveness in helping to combat iron deficiency.

Iron deficiency is the most widespread nutrition-related health problem in the world. As health experts call for a global effort to tackle the problem through the fortification of staple foods, AkzoNobel is providing a vital ingredient in the formula with its unique iron compound Ferrazone®.

Otherwise known as Ferric Sodium EDTA, Ferrazone proves to be much more effective than conventional forms of iron, many of which cannot be absorbed by the body. Produced and marketed by AkzoNobel's Ethylene and Sulfur derivatives business, it is set to play a major role in reducing and eliminating iron deficiency and associated deaths and illness.

AkzoNobel’s bioavailable iron Ferrazone is produced at its Chelates plant in Herkenbosch, The Netherlands. Ferrazone is produced under HACCP and FSSC 22000. These certifications ensure a product of the highest quality, meeting stringent food safety requirements.
