Akzo Nobel Announces Cancellation of Repurchased Shares

PRESS RELEASE: Akzo Nobel has announced the cancellation of the common shares which the company repurchased under its recent share buyback program.

Amsterdam, the Netherlands, December 10, 2007 – Akzo Nobel has announced the cancellation of the common shares which the company repurchased under its recent share buyback program.

On September 3, 2007, Akzo Nobel announced that it had completed the EUR 1.6 billion share buyback program which was launched on May 3, 2007. Under the program, Akzo Nobel has repurchased an aggregate of 26,736,674 common shares, representing 9.25 percent of the issued share capital as of the end of September 2007.

Nobel completed the cancellation of all 26,736,674 common shares repurchased under the share buyback program on December 7, 2007 Following this cancellation of common shares, Akzo Nobel has 262.3 million shares outstanding.
