Akzo Nobel included in Queen’s Birthday Honors

Press Release - A number of senior Akzo Nobel executives have been awarded a Dutch royal decoration on the occasion of the birthday of Her Majesty Queen Beatrix.

Arnhem, the Netherlands, April 29, 2003 – The following Akzo Nobel officers have been awarded a Dutch royal decoration on the occasion of the birthday of Her Majesty the Queen.

Cees van Lede, retiring Chairman of the Board of Management of Akzo Nobel, was appointed Commander in the Order of the Dutch Lion. This order is conferred on people who have rendered society outstanding services of a highly exceptional nature. He received the insignia of this order from the Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance, Mr. J.H. Hoogervorst, in The Hague. Mr. van Lede was previously decorated with a Knighthood in the Order of the Dutch Lion in 1991.

Olle Werner, Senior Vice President Human Resources, was appointed Knight in the Order of Orange-Nassau. He received the decoration from Mr. E.C. Bakker, mayor of Hilversum in the Netherlands.

Johan Evers, General Manager of Diosynth, was also appointed Knight in the Order of Orange-Nassau. He was decorated by Mr. H.W.M. Klitsie, mayor of Oss in the Netherlands.
