Australian Agreement For Purate®

Akzo Nobel’s Pulp and Paper Chemicals business has signed an exclusive agreement for the licensing and distribution of its patented Purate® and SVP-Pure® chlorine dioxide generation systems in Australia.

Akzo Nobel’s Pulp and Paper Chemicals business, Eka Chemicals, has signed an exclusive agreement with Water Treatment Services (Aust) Pty Ltd (WTS) to license and distribute its patented Purate® and SVP-Pure® chlorine dioxide generation systems in Australia.

Headquartered in Queensland, WTS provides complete product and service packages for municipal and industrial water treatment.

"We are very excited to be able to offer our Australian customers Eka Chemicals' chlorine dioxide technology for water treatment," said WTS director, John O'Rourke. "Purate® technology strengthens our product portfolio by providing a cost effective and leading-edge technology for the production of chlorine dioxide."

The SVP-Pure® chlorine dioxide generator utilizes Purate®—a proprietary blend of sodium chlorate and hydrogen peroxide—to generate chlorine dioxide at rates from 1 to 100+ kilograms per hour.

Chlorine dioxide produced by Purate® is used as a biocide for water treatment and as a specialty oxidant in applications such as odor control, iron and manganese oxidation, phenol destruction and sulfite control.

"We are extremely pleased to add WTS as one of our licensed distributors for our Purate® and SVP-Pure® products," added Patrick Bryant, General Manager of Eka Chemicals’ Purate® business.

"This new agreement with WTS follows our strategy of partnering with water treatment providers offering customers the best overall solution for any size application. Our Purate® technology offers a low-cost and efficient path for the generation of chlorine dioxide and our SVP-Pure® generators are given high marks by our customers for their reliable, safe and simple operation."
