Coatings Flying High

Akzo Nobel Aerospace Coatings has provided the colors for the striking new corporate identity scheme of Gulf Air.

Akzo Nobel Aerospace Coatings has provided the colors for the striking new corporate identity scheme of Gulf Air, the national airline of Bahrain, Oman and the UAE.

A total of 31 aircraft are being coated in the distinctive blue, gold and white livery.

“The livery itself is a non-metallic Aviox® Mica which has the appearance of a metallic coating—technical requirements do not permit metallic paint to be used on aircraft,” explained René Bremer, ANAC technical sales manager for the Middle East and Arabian Peninsula.

He added that Aerodur Clearcoat UVR®, a clear film which creates a “wet look” will also be used.

This UV protective coating provides excellent performance in the very hostile conditions of sand, dust, sun and maritime salt which are typical of the Gulf region.
