Investigation Confirmed

Akzo Nobel has confirmed that it is one of five companies being investigated by the Department of Justice in the USA.

The investigation, which also involves Sherwin-Williams, DuPont, PPG Industries and BASF AG, concerns alleged price fixing in the automotive paint market.

The company’s official statement reads as follows: “Akzo Nobel confirms that it has received a grand jury subpoena relating to the U.S. Department of Justice’s investigations with respect to the automotive refinishes industry.

"So far, internal investigations have not revealed any facts supporting the allegations in the subpoena."

Akzo Nobel, which is the world’s largest paint company, is cooperating fully with the U.S. government.
