Rowers from a club sponsored by Akzo Nobel have enjoyed medal success at the Olympic Games in Athens.

The 11 Dutch rowers are all current or former members of the Nereus club in Amsterdam, the Netherlands—which has been sponsored by the company for the last 13 years—and seven of them triumphed over the weekend.

Michiel Bartman, Diederik Simon, Gijs Vermeulen and Chun Wei Cheung won silver in the men’s eight; Sarah Siegelaar grabbed bronze in the women’s eight; while Kirsten van der Kolk and Marit van Eupen also came away with bronze in the women’s lightweight double sculls.

For Simon and Bartman it was the second time they had claimed Olympic silver medals after enjoying similar success in Sydney four years ago.

The other Nereus members competing in Athens were Laura Posthuma, Femke Dekker, Gerard van der Linden and Ivo Snijders.
