Safety Awards

Three of Akzo Nobel’s Coatings concerns in America have won safety awards.

The honors were handed out by the USA’s National Paint and Coatings Association, who annually present awards to their members with outstanding safety records.

The recipients of the 2000 Safety Awards included the Akzo Nobel Coatings sites in Somerset, New Jersey, and Zion, Illinois, who both won the Safety Award of Honor, while Akzo Nobel Coatings, Pontiac, Michigan, scooped a Safety Award of Commendation.

The Safety Award of Honor recognizes the lowest rate of death and total lost work days during the latest reporting year, while in order to receive the Safety Award of Commendation, a company must have the lowest rate of death and away-from-work cases during the latest reporting year.

All winners receive certificates in recognition of their achievements.

The NPCA is a voluntary, non-profit trade association which represents around 400 paint and coatings businesses in the US.
