Motorsport fans across the world are gearing up for the start of the Formula Onetm season this weekend, when reigning champion Lewis Hamilton will be racing his AkzoNobel-coated F1tm car for the first time.

Being staged in Australia, Sunday’s opening race of the season will be AkzoNobel Car Refinishes' first grand prix as official supplier of paint solutions to the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes Formula 1tm team.

The new MP4-24 has been finished with a sophisticated, state-of-the art system of Sikkens products tailor-made by AkzoNobel Car Refinishes to meet the unique technical demands of grand prix racing.

As well as producing a highly distinctive high chrome finish, the new Sikkens system has halved the time required to cure the new bodywork parts, vitally speeding up the paint application process. A combination of VOC compliant systems and specialty products also helps to optimize the performance.

The new Vodafone McLaren Mercedes MP4-24 – which will also be driven by Heikki Kovalainen – was unveiled at a special launch event in January.
