A listed Edwardian grandstand at an historic racecourse in Scotland has been refurbished using coatings supplied by Akzo Nobel.

Products from the company’s Sikkens woodcare range were used during a recent upgrading of the facilities at Musselburgh Racecourse in East Lothian.

The work included an entire parade ring redevelopment, which involved revamping a number of saddling enclosures and veterinarian and horse wash down boxes.

Sikkens Novatech was specified for all saddling box timber components, which were erected on site and then coated. The listed Edwardian grandstand was also redecorated with Sikkens Rubbol Satura woodstain.

A venue for horse racing since 1816, Musselburgh is scheduled to host 25 race days this year, the next one taking place on April 29.
