Dissolvine® is the Akzo Nobel brand name for chelates—chemicals that control the concentration or effects of metal ions.

As the word “chela'” implies (it's Greek for crab's claw), chelates seize a metal ion and control it, making it very difficult for another substance to liberate it.

Dissolvine products include chelating agents that absorb and control metal ions, as well as metal chelates that can introduce the right kind of metal ions into a product or process in precisely the right dose.

The products supplied by the company’s Dissolvine business have helped numerous companies improve their industrial processes and their chelates and chelating agents are used in a wide range of chemical processes, including household cleaning, water treatment and preventing precipitation and scale, as well as in various other applications in the paper industry, photography and agriculture.

Dissolvine chelates are marketed through regional centers in Europe, Asia Pacific and North America, with applications in the product range including polymer production, food and beverage preservatives, bleaching of pulp and textiles, building materials and metal plating.
