Swedish Bus Painting Facility Acquired

Akzo Nobel’s Car Refinishes business has acquired the bus painting facilities of Omni AB in Sweden.

Akzo Nobel’s Car Refinishes business has acquired the bus painting facilities of Omni AB in Sweden.

The company is a subsidiary of Scania AB—one of the world’s leading manufacturers of trucks and buses—and has its bus painting facilities located in the Swedish town of Katrineholm, where it also operates a bus manufacturing factory.

The deal with Akzo Nobel relates to the paint shop and adjoining offices only. Omni’s bus building operation will remain under the ownership of Scania.

As the sole supplier of specialist refinish systems to Omni, Akzo Nobel regards the acquisition of the paint shop as the ideal opportunity to build upon its relationship with an important customer, while further developing its commercial vehicle refinish business in the Nordic region.

“Akzo Nobel is continually looking for opportunities to build closer relationships with customers and this deal is particularly beneficial to all parties,” said Cor de Grauw, General Manager of Akzo Nobel Car Refinishes.

The paint shop, including all 11 employees, equipment and inventory, came under the responsibility of Akzo Nobel Car Refinishes on April 1.
