Unlocking innovation through academic partnerships

Collaboration with the world of academia helps us deliver ever more innovative and sustainable solutions

We’re all about pushing boundaries and developing great ideas – but we can’t do it alone. That’s why we’ve forged partnerships with more than 60 academic institutions around the world. Together, we’re finding inventive ways to contribute positively to an ever-changing world.

Sustainable Coatings by Rational Design (SusCoRD)

We’ve partnered with the Universities of Manchester and Sheffield in the UK for a project that will fundamentally examine “how paint works”. Sustainable Coatings by Rational Design (SusCoRD) will give us a clear understanding of how the performance of protective organic coatings arises. By understanding how coatings fail, we can deliver a framework to optimize their capabilities.

Advanced Research Center Chemical Building Blocks Consortium (ARC CBBC)

A greener, more sustainable chemical industry is the vision of the Advanced Research Center Chemical Building Blocks Consortium (ARC CBBC), the Netherlands’ national research center for circular and sustainable chemistry. We’re proud to join with other representatives from our industry, academia and the government to help further this aim. Research is mainly focused on three themes – energy transition, feedstock transition and materials transition.

An open innovation platform that will help engineers develop coatings – that’s the goal of the EU-funded VIPCOAT program. We’re among 12 partners from seven countries who have united to make developing and producing corrosion protection technologies faster, increasingly sustainable and more economical. The aim is that the platform can be used by the research, industrial, political and public sectors alike.
