Hundreds of houses in Colombia are being transformed with help from our Pintuco Foundation as part of a major initiative to boost tourism around the Magdalena River.
Working with the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, our Pintuco brand is carrying out an urban revitalization project which will bring important benefits to several communities.
So far, more than 500 homes have been painted in El Banco, Santa Bárbara de Pinto and San Basilio de Palenque, including 116 stilt houses in Nueva Venecia. In addition, more than 80 people have taken part in training courses focused on the use of architectural finishes.
The arrival of cruise ships on the Magdalena River represents a big economic opportunity for the region. However, it also poses challenges that require improvements to local infrastructure and services – which are being addressed by the ongoing initiative.
Other areas of focus for the project include painting a series of murals in San Basilio de Palenque and designing new urban furniture for El Banco, Santa Bárbara and Nueva Venecia.
Around 31,000 square meters has been painted so far, which is already playing a significant role in helping to strengthen cultural identity.
