Employees from Akzo Nobel Chemicals in India have been taking part in the relief effort to help those affected by the devastating floods which raged through the country recently.
of the worst hit areas was Mahad—home to one of the company’s chemicals facilities—where water levels rose to about 20 feet, flooding the ground floor of apartments, shops and houses.
well as damaging items such as food, clothing, electrical equipment and furniture, supplies of electricity and drinking water were interrupted, while livestock was also washed away.
Akzo Nobel’s plant was not affected by the floods, the company and its employees were quick to offer immediate help to those who were less fortunate.
such as drinking water and food were distributed, with the company also providing grocery kits to the residents of nearby Gandhar Pale village.
with other Akzo Nobel entities in India, the chemicals business is providing further assistance for the victims, such as education for children who lost their parents during landslides, building materials to make shelters for the homeless and vaccines for animals.
