Site Completes First Year of Operation

A chelates manufacturing facility run by Akzo Nobel in the USA has completed its first year since expanding operations.

A chelates manufacturing facility in Ohio, USA, has completed its first year since expansion of operations under Akzo Nobel Functional Chemicals.

The Lima site, which is part of the company’s Dissolvine® chelates business, officially opened in September last year following capital expanison of unit operations

When it was first acquired by Akzo Nobel, the facility manufactured only five products. But the investment transformed the site into a state-of-the-art, world-scale plant, which now makes 17 products and introduces an average of one new product every six weeks.

It has been a challenging first 12 months for the site, during which time it was awarded with the Certificate of Honor by the American Chemical Council for safety performance. Several key customers have also recognized the facility as their preferred supplier.

Akzo Nobel’s Dissolvine chelating agents are used in a wide range of applications, such as industrial cleaning, food and beverage preservation, descaling and polymer production.
