Amsterdam, the Netherlands, April 14, 2008 — Akzo Nobel (Euronext Amsterdam: AKZ) has announced that, in line with the launch of its EUR 1 billion share buyback program on March 17, 2008, the company has repurchased 630,000 ordinary shares in the period April 7 until April 11, 2008. Shares were repurchased at an average price of EUR 55.37.
The EUR 1 billion program is the first tranche of a EUR 3 billion share buyback program.

The total number of shares repurchased under this program to date is 1,600,000 ordinary shares for a total consideration of EUR 84.4 million.
