Visitors to this month’s Southampton Boat Show in the UK will be able to view a World War II vessel which has been restored to its former glory with considerable help from Akzo Nobel.
The 21-meter long Motor Gun Boat 81 is one of the main attractions at the show, which runs from September 13 to 22 and is expected to attract around 130,000 visitors.
Built in 1942, the restoration effort began three years ago, with Akzo Nobel’s International Coatings business providing around half a ton of its professional Epiglass epoxy resin system, which has been used for gluing, laminating, and impregnation.
The restoration has now been completed and the vessel will take its place alongside more than 850 other boats that will be on show at the event.
More than 600 exhibitors will also be in attendance, with representatives from the International business being located on stand AG029.
