Akzo Nobel’s International Paint business has opened a Central Distribution Center (CDC) to serve its U.S., Canadian and Central American customers.
The 55,000 square foot facility, located in Houston, Texas, will warehouse and distribute International Paint Inc’s full line of protective and marine coatings and Chartek fire protection products to 16 smaller distribution stations that service customers in three countries.
“The new facility has greatly improved and streamlined our tracking and delivery process,” said Mike McKay, general manager for the CDC.
“Because our state-of-the-art ‘rack and locator’ system is fully automated, we can turn orders around with greater accuracy the very same day.”
Added International Paint Inc’s North American supply manager, Dave Baker: “Our goal is to continually find new ways for improving our delivery of high quality products and service to customers. The new CDC is just one more example of that commitment.”
Sixteen distribution stations are served by the CDC and a total of ten U.S cities, including Seattle, San Diego, Hawaii, Houston, New Orleans Miami and Atlanta. Five cities in Canada are also catered for by the facility, along with Toluca in Mexico.
