Site Earns Safety Honor

Akzo Nobel’s polymer chemicals facility at Deer Park, Texas, USA, has earned special recognition for its safety efforts.

The site has been awarded Star status as part of the Voluntary Protection Programs run by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

The programs are designed to recognize and promote effective safety and health management and the Deer Park location is the third Akzo Nobel polymer chemicals site in America to receive the Star ranking, alongside Edison, New Jersey and Pasadena, Texas.

Three ranking levels exist within the OSHA’s Voluntary Protection Programs, with Star status being the most prestigious. It is only awarded to companies with excellent safety and health programs.

To qualify for Star recognition, sites must meet a number of strict criteria regarding various health and safety issues, including injury/illness rates and incidence rates.
