Success For Akcros

Akzo Nobel’s Akcros Chemicals site in Eccles, near Manchester, UK, has won its third award in less than a year.

Eccles site was recently voted into the runners-up spot in the Chemical Industries Association’s (CIA) Responsible Care program.

total of 350 UK companies subscribe to the program–a worldwide initiative promoting continuous improvements in all aspects of health, safety and environmental management–but only 32 were invited to enter for the award, with Akcros clinching a prestigious second place.

“This is a tremendous achievement,” said Akcros managing director, Kees van Nierop. “To be singled out in this way is a measure of our commitment to Responsible Care.”

award follows hot on the heels of the Department of Trade and Industry’s Site of Excellence Award and the Asset Management Information Service Award, which have also been presented to the Eccles site within the last 12 months.

Chemicals is one of the world leaders in the field of additives for processing and manufacturing plastics and Polysulphide Chemicals for the aerospace, marine and construction industries.
