It’s an epic project, now in commercial operation, which required the kind of expertise that only a global market leader in the protection of offshore wind farms could provide – we supply more than 60% of the world’s offshore wind farms* – so that’s where we came in.
In fact, we’ve been a major supplier to China’s clean energy sector for some time, proudly contributing to both the State Power Investment Corporation’s Dafeng H3 wind farm project, and the China-Guangzhou Nuclear Group’s Shanwei Houhu offshore wind farm project, as well as China’s first large scale offshore wind farm at Donghai Bridge.
Building on these high profile projects (China is the third largest offshore wind power producer in the world), many of the turbine towers at the new Huaneng Rudong offshore wind farm are now protected with advanced anti-corrosion coatings from our International range, which are specially designed for offshore performance.
Two of the wind farm’s booster stations are also protected by our coatings. International’s Chartek products were selected to provide passive fire protection to the giant structures, which collect, maximize and transmit power generated by the turbines.
