Drivers in the famous French city of Le Mans have a new year-round attraction to get excited about which features coatings supplied by Akzo Nobel.
around the world for staging the annual 24-hour road race, Le Mans now features a dazzling fresco which has been painted on a 2.6 kilometer section of wall bordering the main road of the racing circuit (the RN 23).
The two-meter high wall was recently completed by artist Yvan Mauger, who used the company’s Astral® coatings after the department of motorway and work services in charge of the project selected the decorative brand for its proven expertise in exterior wall paint.
The products had to meet strict customer requirements such as resistance to weathering, coverage, hiding power, color retention and the number of colors required.
Around 50,000 vehicles travel past the wall every day, with the hugely popular 24-hour race—which attracts thousands of fans—due to be staged in June.
