Car Refinishes Wins Russian Bus Contract

Akzo Nobel’s Car Refinishes business has secured a contract to supply coatings to the biggest city bus manufacturer in Russia.

Akzo Nobel’s Car Refinishes business in Russia has won a contract to supply Sikkens® Autocoat BT to the Likino bus plant.

Despite facing strong competition from all the major players on the commercial vehicle paint market in Russia, the 150-ton contract was eventually awarded to Akzo Nobel, who, among other benefits, offered the most comprehensive package of technical support.

The Likino plant, which expects to produce 2,600 buses this year, is owned by the Likinsky Bus company, the biggest city bus manufacturer in Russia.

The company is also a member of the RusAvtobusProm group, which includes all the leading bus makers in the country—Pavlovo, Golitsino and Kurgan—who have a total output of around 14,000 new buses per year.

Winning the Likino contract means that more opportunities could open up for the Car Refinishes business in terms of becoming an exclusive supplier to all the bus producers in the group.
