Former Akzo Nobel CEO Cees van Lede has received the Dutch royal decoration he was awarded recentlyafter being named in the Queen’s birthday honors list.
Van Lede—who was succeeded as company chairman by Hans Wijers on May 1—was appointed Commander in the Order of the Dutch Lion, one of the highest civilian decorations in the Netherlands.
Van Lede was presented with the award in The Hague by the Dutch Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance, J.H. Hoogervorst. The honor is bestowed on people who have rendered society outstanding services of a highly exceptional nature.
The former chairman was also decorated in 1991, when he was appointed Knight in the Order of Orange Nassau.
