New Warehouse Continues Sico Expansion

Akzo Nobel has reinforced its commitment to the coatings market in western Canada with the official opening of the first Sico Paints corporate warehouse in the western provinces.

Based in Calgary, the 29,000 square foot, state-of-the-art facility will service Sico's more than 500 customers from Manitoba to British Columbia, distributing in excess of three million liters of paint annually. For the last decade, Sico has operated from a public warehouse building.

"This is a significant development in the expansion of Sico in western Canada," said Claude Brosseau, Sico’s Vice President of Sales and Marketing.

"Sales of Sico paints have increased very rapidly in the west over the past few years, and the new warehouse will improve our service to, and support the growth of, our western customers."

The new warehouse will distribute Sico's decorative line of paints, including the Sico Classic, Supreme, Design, Pro, Spec and Expert brands, private labels for Rona, as well as sealant and adhesive products for subsidiary Mulco.

Added Brosseau: "We're confident that with our own, corporately-run warehouse facility in western Canada, Sico will continue to expand in this important market, which is strategic to the company's overall growth.”

Akzo Nobel acquired Sico—Canada’s leading coatings company—in 2006.
