Big Catch For Coatings

Akzo Nobel International Coatings in Brazil has supplied products for the biggest fishing vessel ever built in Chile.

The largest fishing vessel ever built in Chile has been coated by Akzo Nobel International Coatings in Brazil.

Following close cross-company cooperation with International Paint Korea, the 79-meter tuna fishing freezer vessel was built at the Marco Chilea shipyard in Iquique in Chile. It was then bought by SHILLA, one of IP Korea’s key customers, who have 80 percent of the market share for the Korean fishing fleet.

IP Korea has also supplied International’s flagship anti-corrosive, Intershield 300, for use on the Stena Vision, a revolutionary bulk crude oil carrier which has a double hull, double rudders and double propellers.

A special christening ceremony for the Swedish-owned vessel was held by Hyundai Heavy Industries at the Ulsan shipyard in Korea.
