The new building—located close to the current HQ in the town of Amersfoort—will form part of a development known as Brouwershof, a large complex being constructed in the shape of a horseshoe around a central plaza, which will have the Akzo Nobel building as its “spine.”
As well as the new HQ—which will be leased by the company—the project will also include a hotel, a conference venue and a two-storey underground car park.
Situated close to both the current Chemicals headquarters building and the town’s railway station, the new premises—which will be the administrative home of the Functional Chemicals, Salt, Energy and Base Chemicals BUs—will have room for up to 500 employees, with parking for 190 vehicles.
Building work is due to start on December 9, with the move expected to take place at the end of 2006.
