Akzo Nobel Car Refinishes has launched a new VOC compliant solid color topcoat under the Lesonal® brand name.
Developed from the latest technology, Lesonal Topcoat HS420 offers significant advantages over the well-established Lesonal 2K Topcoat it will replace.
By introducing Topcoat HS420, Lesonal has now completed its VOC compliant product assortment to fulfill legislation which will be enforced at bodyshops in Western Europe from 2007 onwards.
As is to be expected from Lesonal, although completely in line with the latest legislation, the product is very user-friendly in application and provides an excellent end result.
“The new dispersion technology and high solids content enable the paint to flow very smoothly and resist sagging,” explained Jeanette Scholder, global product manager of Lesonal. “This makes it easier for the professional sprayer to achieve a high build, quality finish in less time using less material. With Lesonal Topcoat HS420, all colors cover in just one or two coats.”
Added Scholder: “The new topcoat is in line with the Lesonal policy of developing compact and user-friendly paint systems that save bodyshops time and money. Lesonal Topcoat HS420 dries quickly to an instant gloss finish and this eliminates the need for polishing and increases customer satisfaction.”
To help reduce stock-holding in the bodyshop, the new topcoat system—which is available across Europe—consists of just 21 tinters (including a gloss reducer), from which thousands of solid colors can be mixed accurately.
Initially, the product will be introduced with a separate hardener and thinner, but it is planned to have a VOC compliant family approach for hardeners and thinners available soon, fitting the Lesonal philosophy.
