The first and only yacht finish in the world to contain Teflon® has been launched in Australia by Akzo Nobel’s International Paint business.
Brightside Polyurethane—a one-pack polyurethane enamel which produces a hard, tough surface that is very easy to clean—was unveiled by International at the Sydney International Boat Show, which runs from August 1 to 6.
Best known for the benefits it brings to the everyday frying pan, the proven Teflon technology used in Brightside makes it an ideal coating for topsides, producing a surface that is remarkably resistant to abrasions, stains, chemicals and dirt.
Available in 14 bright, high gloss colors, its superb flow characteristics also allow a sprayed-on appearance to be achieved by brush application, giving an even, mirror-like finish.
Brightside was launched in Europe in early 2002 and has been a top-selling product in the United States for a number of years.
Akzo Nobel is among more than 300 exhibitors attending this year’s Sydney International Boat Show—being held at Darling Harbor—with the event expected to top 2001’s visitor figure of 77,000 people.
